These are some people you may want to hear from white you consider starting your health and fitness journey.

Hettie - Self employed - Sandyford

Can you describe any reservations about beginning? I thought weight lifting was only for professional bodybuilders.

Can you describe how I was able to help you with your reservations? Eoin slowly introduced weightlifting as part of my workouts and coached me over time until I     could see the positive changes in my body.

Can you describe your goals when you were beginning? I wanted to climb the Sugar Loaf with ease, improve my posture and get fitter in general.

What have you achieved so far? I climbed the Sugar Loaf with the greatest of ease, I felt my posture improved, have lost weight and maintained my sanity during the worst economic recession I have ever experienced.

What would you say to someone with similar goals to you who is contemplating starting with Strength for Life? I usually show them a photograph of myself before I started training with Eoin.

What is one thing you were happy Strength for Life did for you? I found it beneficialwhen you recorded movements and techniques I struggled with and     those I did well.

Jane - Financial Regulation - Cabinteely

Can you describe any reservations about beginning? I had never been involved with the type of training that Eoin focuses on - weights. Prior to starting with Eoin my training was cardio heavy. I was concerned that by focusing on weights and core I'd bulk up.

Can you describe how I was able to help you with your reservations? Eoin assured me that my concerns were unfounded. Weights would tone and strengthen my body rather than beefing me up.

Can you describe you top goals you had when beginning? To tone up my body, to find a motivational trainer who would encourage and push me at each session, and later to keep me training effectively throughout my pregnancy.

Can you describe what you have achieved so far? I am now confident in my form and technique when lifting weights. I have learnt the right way to hold myself and control my breathing. My aim was never to lose weight but to tone up, as a result I didn't focus on weighing scales but on how my clothes fit. This has proved to me how my body shape has changed for the better. Eoin definitely provided the motivation and encouragement I needed to help me along. In addition, he was always available for questions when I was training on my own.

Eoin ensured that I was able to keep training throughout my pregnancy. Some exercises did need to be tailored but we found other ways to carry these out. I had full confidence in him throughout my pregnancy and felt great as a result.

What would you say to someone with similar goals who is considering training with Strength for Life? CALL HIM! I used a number of trainers prior to Eoin and there's a reason why I stuck with him and have recommended him to numerous people since. Eoin focuses on each individual's goals and strives to help meet them. He doesn't follow on a "one size fits all" approach. He understands that different people and different body types have different goals and he respects that.

Ger - Housewife - Templeogue

Can you describe any reservations about beginning? Didn't really enjoy gym work in the past.

Can you describe your goals? Improve my fitness, tone up and become more supple.

Can you list what you have achieved so far? Certainly enjoy the gym more, toned up considerably yet unfortunately out of action with a knee injury, my fitness improved significantly.

What would you say to someone with similar goals who is considering training with Strength for Life? I would highly recommend Eoin as being very positive, encouraging and his level of fitness knowledge is super.

What is the one thing you were happy Strength for Life did for you? Eoin gave me the confidence to go to the gym and do constructive work outs.

Carolin - Hairdressing - Dundrum

Can you describe any reservations about beginning? Was very nervous to be going to the gym, I had no knowledge about any of the work out machines etc. and didn't know how to achieve my fitness goals.

Can you explain how I was able to help you with your reservations? Very quickly I enjoyed going to the gym. Eoin explained how to use every workout machine I needed in the correct way and I became confident in using them on my own, so very quickly I saw results and changes in my body shape, posture and strength.

Can you describe your goals? To be able to put on weight through muscle instead of fat.

Can you list what you have achieved so far? My fitness and self image has massively improved.

What would you say to someone with similar goals who is considering training with Strength for Life? Go for it, great fun and you will not regret it!

What is the one thing you were happy Strength for Life did for you? Pushed me to the limit every workout.

Inge - GDAI Operations Coordinator

Can you describe any reservations about beginning? None really, I was looking forward to getting guidance to a healthier lifestyle

Can you describe your goals when you were beginning? Become healthier, be fitter and lose weight.

What have you achieved so far? All of the above!

Gill - PhD Student - Rathfarnham

Can you describe any reservations about beginning? I had a previous back injury and was very afraid of doing more damage to myself.

Can you explain how I was able to help you with your reservations? Eoin assured me that with the right training I would not hurt my back but strengthen it and aid in its recovery.

Can you describe your goals? Get fitter, change my training regime from cardio based to weight training. Possibly start competing in physique competitions

Can you list what you have achieved so far? No more back problems, I gained a better understanding of good diet and nutrition, I developed skills and a discipline needed to follow a strict training and diet regime in order to go on and compete. I now have a better knowledge and understanding of my anatomy and what muscles are being engaged in the different exercises. I have a better understanding of my body and the limits to which it can be pushed. I competed in my first fitness physique competition, and won the overall Ms. Bikini title in my second competition, all achieved with less then a year of training with Eoin.

What would you say to someone with similar goals who is considering training with Strength for Life? To trust you, you are more then qualified and that you have great knowledge and understanding of how the body works. That you don't just tell someone what to do in the gym, you teach them why they’re doing it, where you should be engaged around the body when doing it.

What is the one thing you were happy Strength for Life did for you? Eoin was a huge part of me getting in the best physical shape I have ever been in, which enabled me to go on and compete. Training is something I look forward to rather then dread.

Berta - Financial analyst & MBA Student

Can you describe any reservations about beginning? Time availability was my only reservation. I was not sure whether the training session would suit my schedule or not.

Can you explain how I was able to help you with your reservations? Eoin offered a wide range of possibilities prior to scheduling training sessions (i.e. lunch time, evening time or Saturday mornings). Eoin would prioritize your clients suitability when possible.

Can you describe your goals? Greater self confidence, better fitness level, and succeeding in running a half marathon in a decent time.

Can you list what you have achieved so far? Congrats, Eoin! 3 out of 3!

1) Greater self confidence

2) Better fitness level

3) Running a half marathon in 1h 36', which was an amazing experience!

What would you say to someone with similar goals who is considering training with Strength for Life? Many people fear that their goals are not 'demanding' or 'relevant' enough to share them with a personal trainer and to let them help. I would tell those people that you are a nonjudgmental and experienced professional who would believe progressively in your goals just as much as you do. The only thing you have to give Eoin is a bit of your time and your trust.

What is the one thing you were happy Strength for Life did for you? I was out of training for a couple of weeks in winter due to work load and I was thankful when you kept in contact with me. You proved to be comprehensive and patient at that time and you dragged me back into training almost immediately, which ultimately made possible the achievement of my goals. Also, I appreciate that you explain the cause-effect of zone specific training in my overall running performance, I've learnt a lot from you and I have the feeling I can apply that knowledge when training on my own.

Michelle - Business owner/Director - Dundrum

Can you describe any reservations about beginning? That I wouldn't be fit enough to sprint or do push-ups or any of the crazy things I thought I might be asked to do!

Can you explain how I was able to help you with your reservations? You outlined a program and explained your expectations/timelines for improvement!

Can you describe your goals? I had shin splints from running so as well as recover from that I wanted to

1) To strengthen my legs (avoiding pain while maintaining my running)

2) To become stronger

3) Tone areas

Can you list what you have achieved so far?

1) I am stronger.

2) I am much more "gym confident" (I used to fear gyms)

3) I am much more aware of nutrition, anatomy, my injury limitations and how to avoid further pain/injury.

4) I have set goals, achieved some... Failed others... Improved nonetheless.

5) I have run 10k races and a half marathon, without injury due to my training in gym.

What would you say to someone with similar goals who is considering training with Strength for Life? "Suck it up princess” (something I [Eoin] tend to say)
